The company’s name gives little
indication as to the remarkable history of this tea producing firm,
established originally in Russia before moving to London and Paris.
Pavel Michailovitch Kousmichoff
(1840-1908) left his native village at the age of 14 to work as a
delivery boy in a tea store. A few years later, at the age of 27, Pavel
opened his first store in St. Petersburg, leading to the creation of
the P. M. Kousmichoff tea company in 1867.
